Search and Recovery
Have you ever heard the saying ‘like finding a drop in the ocean?’ Finding something you have lost in the water can often feel like this if you don’t really know how to search properly. This course will teach you effective ways not only to find things but also how to safely bring them to the surface. Objects that are small, large or just plain awkward - we can show you a way to find and lift them.
What does the course consist of?
Your search and recovery course will consist of:
Knowledge Development: Through homework and the vast knowledge of your Learntodive PADI Instructor you will learn about -
- Search and recovery dive planning, organisation, what they are used for, how to conduct them and what their limitations may be.
- Different types of search patterns, what they are used for, how to conduct them and what their limitations may be.
- Different types of lift bags and other potential recovery methods
- How to search in limited visibility.
Your knowledge development session will be followed by four open water dives, during which you will get to put your newly acquired knowledge into action. We will get you finding, moving and recovering lots of stuff!

Things to do after you qualify: Go on dive trips
At Wraysbury Dive Centre we organise dive trips both at home in the UK and abroad. Trips are organised for all levels of diver. Just keep an eye on our trips page here and on our facebook page for upcoming events.
Things to do after you qualify: Buy dive kit
You may have already bought your first dive toys but if you have not, you may be considering making that first purchase. We would always recommend that you purchase your dive equipment from a dive shop rather than shopping online (and its not just because we have a dive shop on site). Buying in person allows you to try things on so that you get the right fit, get the right advice and kit for the type of diving that you intend to do and benefit from the experience of those that actually go diving. You may also end up with a better deal than you imagined.
